Reg Collen Cup 3.5.2018

Reg Collen cup match

For the first time in the cups history the game ended in a draw.

It was my first time of being involved in the Reg Collen cup and for the first time in its 30 year history the result was a 1-1 draw.

I was nervous from the day before kick-off but I knew I had to play well. When I waked on the pitch and the full stand started to cheer for us my nerves turned to excitement and I couldn’t wait to get the ball at my feet. When the whistle blew to kick-off, the very hard contest began. The tackles were tough and meaningful and the passing was quick and into the right places. Carmen Quinn-Nicholls, the St Andrews goal keeper, was in great form and pulled off some great saves to stop the Weatheralls from scoring in the first half. The half finished 0-0.

I was substituted by Mr Harrison for the start of the second half because I needed a break. About 10 minutes into the second half Jack Greenham from the Weatheralls set up a good goal and we were 1-0 down. 15 minutes to go and I was brought back on into the left wing. We were pushing hard to score and the crowd were cheering us on, I suddenly got the ball on the wing and went round 2 players, passed the ball to Ewan Davis-Trainer who was waiting in the middle and he did a through ball to Jordan Hicks who went on to score just before the final whistle. 1-1 the final score.

It was great fun taking part and both sets of players had a great time, the atmosphere was amazing with all the children cheering and shouting. If you’re in year 5 and like football then you’ve got to try and play in this game.
